Fired NYC Firefighter Dead at 36

This is a report that is going to infuriate just about everyone reading it.

Derek Floyd is dead.

Now, that name may not mean anything to you just yet, but give it a few minutes and read on.

You’re Fired

As you all know, New York City has been robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Mayor Adams has been reallocating funds from other departments in order to pay for programs for illegal immigrants who have settled in New York.

Floyd is a casualty of that thinking, having previously been employed as a New York City Firefighter.

He was classified as “long-term duty,” meaning he has either been hurt on the job, assigned to desk duty, or out sick for an extended period.

When it was time to make cuts, Floyd’s name was one of 10 employees in the FDNY who were terminated.

His pink slip came down just a few weeks before Christmas.

Well, Floyd suffered a fatal heart attack on April 15, only four months after he was cut loose, leaving his wife and children with no provider.

To make this an even more infuriating report, Floyd is also a veteran, having served in the Marines, doing three tours in the Middle East.

Floyd was on “long-term duty,” assigned to the Chaplain’s office, helping arrange funerals for fallen firefighters after having suffered a heart attack on the job in 2019.

At the time, he was still going through the academy.

His widow, Christine, is obviously heartbroken and distraught over how she is going to pay her bills.

She stated, “I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

“I think it definitely took a toll once they let him go. He always tried to, like, stay positive about it, and he wasn’t really angry.

“But you see a person, and the wheels are turning in their brain where they’re just constantly thinking, so I definitely think it did affect us.”

Since Floyd was terminated, there was no FDNY life insurance policy for Christine, leaving her swimming in debt and no way out.

Uniformed Firefighter Association president Andrew Ansbro added, “What disturbs me the most is that the FDNY is understaffed by hundreds of firefighters. Terminating [Floyd] was absolutely unnecessary.

“He had an important job, and the FDNY actually needed him in that unit. He was terminated so the department could prove that they were making cuts. He deserved better.”

Yet, migrants are living in hotels and getting free medical care.

That is about all you need to know regarding how Democrats treat our heroes.
