White House claims to have not known about 9/11 plea deal

UPDATE: The Defense Secretary has revoked the plea deal, and the prosecutor has been dismissed.

The death penalty is back on the table for the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks and his two sidekicks.

WOW.

It was in regard to one of the most devastating events in American history, but the United States of America's White House is claiming to have had NO IDEA about the plea deal from the three men accused of masterminding the terrorists attacks that happened on September 11, 2001. Perhaps that had something to do with the decision to reverse it.

On August 1, White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby stopped by Fox News Channel's "Special Report."

While there, he said that one of the most important plea deals in American history wasn't even negotiated by America's government.

Instead, it "was orchestrated by an independent military convening authority."

Kirby said with a straight face, "The White House wasn’t aware of this deal or the process leading up to it until yesterday."

As a result, he refused to comment on the situation because "the White House can’t say anything about the deal other than that the national security team will talk to the Department of Defense about the deal."

Host Bret Baier was the one who brought up the issue:

"I want to turn topics, and this is the 9/11 plea deal. … There’s a lot of reaction to this, John, a plea deal that gets them out of the death penalty. These are the orchestrators, planners, of 9/11 killed some 3,000 Americans," Baier said to Kirby.

That's when Kirby gave the response that shocked America, claiming that the White House wasn't paying attention to what was going on in negotiations between this country and the men responsible for almost 3,000 dead Americans.

"This was something that was orchestrated by an independent military convening authority. The White House wasn’t aware of this deal or the process leading up to it until yesterday. The president has directed his national security team, as appropriate, to reach out to individuals and leaders at the Department of Defense to discuss this matter further. I’m limited into any other thing I can say about it right now, but, obviously, we weren’t aware of it until yesterday. The president wants the team to discuss as appropriate with the Department of Defense."
