Walz Commander Confirms Walz Knew He Was Being Deployed Before Retiring
The media and Democrats have been trying to cover for Minnesota Governor Tim Walz over the timing of the decision to retire from the National Guard.
However, they don’t have all the facts, or they just don't care about them.
Retired Army Command Sergeant Major Doug Julin has come forward to straighten all that out.
He Knew
If a unit is going to get deployed, it is not something that happens overnight.
The command team will often be given a heads-up far in advance of any orders being sent.
This is done in order to allow the command team to structure its training for the potential mission.
To that point, Walz’s unit was told it could be deployed more than a year from the time the actual orders were verbally and written given to the unit.
Walz was on the command team that was informed of the orders and expected to train his unit for that deployment to Iraq, but he decided to retire instead and run for Congress.
Julin confirmed this took place, stating, “I’m going to kind of start of back in the fall of 2004, is what we received — my own commander and myself, of the 1st Brigade, 34th Infantry Division Brigade Combat Team, what’s called a notification of sourcing, which is a ‘NOS.’
“We were informed that we would be alerted to go to Iraq within the next upcoming year or time period out there, start preparing your team, get your team together, and let’s get the process in play.”
Walz then told Julin in February 2025 that he was going to retire to make a run for Congress.
Now, keep in mind that because Walz was in the National Guard, he still did not need to retire to run for Congress. We have several members of Congress who continued to serve after being elected.
The fact of the matter is that the one time in two decades that Walz was being asked to face a shot in anger, he turned tail and ran, then lied about it to cover his cowardice.
Now, I do not want to belittle Walz’s service. The man put 24 honorable years in as a National Guard member.
The problem is that he was dishonest in how he served and how he retired. He lied about carrying a weapon in war. He lied about his rank when he retired. And he lied as to why he retired.
Those three things… yes, I have a problem with them.
