Trump Ridiculed Online After ‘Falling asleep’ in Court
If we are to believe Maggie Haberman of The New York Times, jury selection in Trump’s hush money trial was not all that interesting.
During the trial, Haberman, who attended the trial, claimed that she saw Trump falling asleep during the trial, as though the proceedings were beneath him and boring.
Liberals pounced after conservatives blasted Biden for having fallen asleep on camera numerous times during his presidency.
Wake Him Up
Haberman stated that she saw Trump’s jaw go “slack” and his head kept dropping down, hinting that Trump kept nodding off during the trial.
Haberman posted that Trump’s "head keeps dropping down and his mouth goes slack."
It did not take long for word to reach Trump, who glared at Haberman when he left the courtroom for its afternoon break.
Former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, who was fired by Trump, posted on X, "I've never heard of a defendant falling asleep at his own trial, let alone on the first day.”
Attorney and legal commentator Tristan Snell poured on, "Trump fell asleep at his criminal trial. Looks like Sleepy Don is too old and low-energy to be president."
That is almost a direct quote that Trump had used against Biden after he appeared to nod off several times during a big conference.
A social media influencer that has touted Biden in the past also commented…
Honestly, let him sleep.
Wheel him into a fake Oval Office on the back nine of Trump National, tell him he’s the president, hand him a Diet Coke and a hamberder, play a nature video, quietly close the door, and walk away.#SleepyDon pic.twitter.com/jupvKVGrNa— Jo (@JoJoFromJerz) April 15, 2024
Needless to say, this is not a good look for Trump, and I am not only talking about the liberal media pouncing and Trump now losing one of his favorite attacks against Joe Biden.
Falling asleep during jury selection is not a good first impression for jurors, so this is kind of worrying.
This could also impact debates, as this was one of Trump’s favorite hits against Biden, calling him low-energy and unable to hold up to the job. You better believe the Biden camp will be posting that quote from Haberman all over ads and Biden will have it on one of his little cheat sheets during the debate to throw back in Trump’s face.
