Sexual Assault Suit Against CPAC’s Matt Schlapp

The last few days have been a whirlwind regarding sexual assault allegations that were made against Conservative Political Action Conference Chair Matt Schlapp.

The initial lawsuit was filed by a GOP operative, Carlton Huffman.

Huffman initially claimed that Schlapp assaulted him during a Herschel Walker campaign event in Georgia.

I Take It Back

When this story first broke, many expected to take down Schlapp, but it appears that Huffman has a change of heart.

Huffman had claimed that Schlapp was “aggressively fondling” his groin when he and Schlapp were driving back to their hotel from dinner during the campaign stop in October 2022.

The suit called for $9.4 million for a count of sexual battery against Schlapp, defamation against Schlapp and his wife, and conspiracy to defame.

Schlapp has always maintained his innocence on the matter, so the suit being dropped was obviously a relief, and a big win for the GOP to remove this from the news cycle before the election.

A statement by Huffman was released by Schlapp’s attorney, which stated, “The parties have resolved their differences.

“The Schlapps have advised that the statements made about me were the result of a misunderstanding, which was regrettable. Neither the Schlapps nor the ACU paid me anything to dismiss my claims against them.”

This all sounded great, but then CNN broke a report late Wednesday night that had people asking more questions.

According to that report, the suit was dropped because Schlapp paid Huffman $480,000 to go away, a settlement that was reportedly paid via an insurance policy.

To add a bit more shade to Schlapp, Herschel Walker’s campaign issued a statement that was more damaging than helpful, stating, “As far as I know the facts were never disputed.

“I had no indication that Carlton fabricated his story, then or now. Matt (Schlapp) knew me well enough to call me, he never called me.”

For now, however, this issue is settled, but you better believe the mainstream media will continue to dig until they find something to take down Schlapp.
