Senate Pans MTG's Attempt to Force Removal of Speaker Johnson

It is hard to guess how Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson from Louisiana is feeling right now.

Recently, Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia has been working to try to remove Johnson over his stance on Ukraine aid funding, various spending, and much more.

Greene wants Johnson GONE.

However, Greene is nearly alone in her pressuring of Johnson.

Only two Republicans have been bold enough to stand with Greene in her feelings about Johnson.

In fact, many members of Congress think Greene is out of line!

Some are even annoyed by Greene’s actions.

One of those members obviously includes Johnson, who previously said he doesn’t “think Greene’s proving to be” a serious lawmaker.

“We do the right thing and we let the chips fall where they may,” Johnson continued, referencing how he is moving forward.

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz is another person who believes Greene is wasting the resources of Congress by pursuing the removal of Johnson:

"I think it is utterly ridiculous and counterproductive," he said.

Sen. Mike Braun, a Republican from Indiana, thinks that Marjorie Taylor Greene is not doing a good job thinking ahead when she says that Mike Johnson needs to be removed from the position.

There are multiple aspects of this process, and Greene might only be thinking of the first step.

Even if Johnson WAS able to be removed (he's not, Democrats have already said that they were going to band together to save his job if Greene tries to oust him), that isn't the only part of the puzzle.

Mike Johnson would then need to be replaced, and finding a suitable candidate after booting both him and Kevin McCarthy would be very difficult, according to Braun.

"Who’s raised their hand that would want to be Speaker?" Bruan asked.

Nobody, which is why many Republicans might elect to leave Johnson in place even if they don't agree with everything he does.

Marjorie Taylor Greene has painted herself into a corner. It will be interesting to see what happens to her (and America) as she tries to get herself out of it.
