Rep. Greene Slams Speaker Johnson, Suggests He is Being ‘Blackmailed’

It is no secret that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is not happy with Speaker Johnson (R-LA) right now.

Greene has already made a motion to vacate, but the measure has not yet been put on the floor.

That, however, has not stopped her from firing missiles at Johnson for his “departure” from his usual ways.

Didn’t Want the Job

Johnson, as you surely recall, did not really want the job, but was considered a compromise candidate when the caucus could not settle on a replacement for Speaker Emeritus Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

After Johnson was elected to hold the gavel, the entire caucus appeared behind him united, with Greene right in the front row.

That harmony has clearly been disrupted, and Greene is spewing nothing but venom in Johnson’s direction now.

While appearing with Tucker Carlson, she stated, “Mike Johnson has made a complete departure of who he is and what he stands for. And to the point where people are literally asking — is he being blackmailed?

“What is wrong with him? Because he’s completely disconnected with what we want.”

She later stated, “I mean, what in the world happened? And you can’t help but question, what do they have on him? Is he being blackmailed? What would make this man do this?”

Johnson responded to her blistering criticism, stating, “I respect Marjorie. She will always have an open door to the Speaker’s office. We do have honest differences on strategy sometimes but share the same conservative beliefs.”

Here is what I don’t understand about all of this.

First and foremost, these are both Trump people, so why is Donald Trump not calling them down to Mar-a-Lago to hash this out?

Second, why is all this being aired in public rather than behind closed doors? They have offices right down the hall from each other, so this back-and-forth in the media makes no sense to me other than a chance to grab some headlines.

This disruption is going to hurt the GOP in November, and I would be highly surprised if they hold the House because of these constant spats that are made public.

And if Greene ever follows through with her threat to remove Johnson, my guess is that we can kiss our chances of holding the House goodbye the moment that measure passes.
