Kyrsten Sinema dismisses liberal critics in Senate 'exit interview'
Outgoing senator Kyrsten Sinema finally had enough of her critics, and she decided to speak her mind. It led to what's being called the "wildest exit interview" in recent memory.
Sinema, now an Independent but formerly a Democrat, is facing BRUTAL backlash from her former party members about some of her recent decisions, but Sinema isn't letting those people bother her.
In fact, she doesn't "give a s---" about liberals' disapproval.
Sinema is in the waning days of her first and only term in the Senate. She chose not to run again after switching from Independent to Democrat halfway through her term.
The latest thing that America's Democrats are furious at Sinema for is her decision to help block the renomination of Lauren McFerran to the National Labor Relations board. McFerren's failure to return to the role will allow Donald Trump to nominate two members to the board, which will lead to Republicans taking control.
Sinema wasn't the only senator to vote against this nomination, though. Her old friend and fellow Democrat-turned-Independent Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia also blocked McFerren's nomination.
The soon-to-be-former-lawmaker told Semafor that she's fully aware Democrats are upset with her, but that doesn't mean she shouldn't do what she thinks is right.
"I know some people think I’m, like, this enigma or whatever, but I don’t think that’s true at all,” Sinema said. “I think, maybe, this is a place where sometimes people say things that they don’t mean. I am not one of those people … I think I’m highly predictable."
Sinema registered as an Independent in 2022 after having previously served as a Democrat. At the time, she explained that she's "never fit into any party box" and that she didn't want to.
"Removing myself from the partisan structure -- not only is it true to who I am and how I operate, I also think it’ll provide a place of belonging for many folks across the state and the country who also are tired of the partisanship," Sinema said.
Regardless of what political affiliation they have, politicians in America need to stand up for what's best for America, not what's best for them.
That's something a lot of liberals in this country seem to have forgotten lately, and it probably explains why they're all so furious with someone like Sinema.
