Former Supermodel Christie Brinkley Confirms Skin Cancer Diagnosis

One of the more iconic supermodels of our youth stunned her fans this week with a big announcement on social media.

Christie Brinkley posted a picture after having surgery for skin cancer.

But she did note that she was happy with the surgery and only had “good news” to report.

Getting It Early

Skin cancer is the one cancer that often gets dismissed, with people believing it is no big deal.

And granted, it can take considerable time before it costs someone their life, but it can get to that level, as was proven in the recent death of Jimmy Buffet.

Having said that, there are also times when it takes years for it to show up to the point that people become concerned and get checked, as I can personally vouch for.

I spent years doing cycling club racing, literally putting thousands of miles on my bike every season.

I was also an avid golfer, sometimes playing four or five times a week.

All those years of exposure, while wearing sunscreen and hats, still took a toll, and I recently had to have three square inches removed from my back and Mohs surgery to remove a portion of the outside of one of my ears that had tested positive for skin cancer.

Now, imagine the exposure someone like Brinkley had, with all of those shoots on beaches during her career.

Her skin cancer was detected on the side of her face, however, much more prominent.

She told her followers, "The good news for me is we caught the basal cell Carcinoma early.

"And I had great Doctors that removed the cancer and stitched me up to perfection like an haute couture Dior…"

She then added, "The good news for you is that all of this can be avoided by being diligent with your sun protection!

"I got serious a bit late so now for this ole mermaid/gardener, I’ll be slathering on my SPF 30, reapplying as needed, wearing long sleeves and a wide brim hat. And doing regular total body check ups..that is a MUST !"

Consider this your public service announcement on the subject… get checked every six months because early detection is key, and even if it is more advanced, doctors can still remove it before it becomes fatal.

Now we go back to our regularly scheduled programming to expose liberals and stick up for We the People!
