Democrat Accuses Clay Travis of Jury Tampering in Trump Trial

It was only day one of the Trump hush-money trial, but the rhetoric has already started to fly.

Conservative pundit Clay Travis made a post on social media that did not sit well with Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA).

Swalwell then accused Travis of jury tampering, which started an online battle between the two men.

Jury Tampering

Travis posted on X, “If you’re a Trump supporter in New York City who is a part of the jury pool, do everything you can to get seated on the jury and then refuse to convict as a matter of principle, dooming the case via hung jury.

“It’s the most patriotic thing you could possibly do.”

Swalwell responded, “Jury tampering. That’s what they do. *It’s a felony.”

Travis responded back with the usual name-calling, insisting that this was far from jury tampering.

What Travis is suggesting, however, would create some legal issues for the potential juror if that information ever got out.

The questionnaire for jurors addresses very specific issues regarding loyalty to Donald Trump, so anyone doing what Travis is suggesting could be perjuring themselves.

He is literally asking them to risk their personal freedom to save Trump, and if they were found out either before or after the fact, it would only result in an alternate juror or give the prosecution the right to declare a mistrial and start the process all over again.

Some legal experts also chimed in, citing 18 U.S. Code § 1504, which refers to “influencing jurors by writing.”

So, if you happen to follow Travis on social media, live in New York, and are in the jury pool for this case, please do not follow Travis’ advice.

You will not only NOT keep Trump out of jail, but you just may find yourself behind bars.

Trump’s trial is expected to take about six to eight weeks before completion, and while I do expect him to lose this case in round one, like the Letitia James case, I fully expect Trump to either outright win the case on appeal or to have any judgment against him significantly reduced.

There are cases against Trump that concern me, but this is not one of them.
