Biden Slams AZ Ruling That Outlaws Nearly All Abortions

Once again, abortion is dominating the headlines after the Arizona Supreme Court released its ruling on a recent case.

The ruling will outlaw just about all abortions, upholding a law that was written in the 1800s.

Oddly enough, even Donald Trump spoke out against the law.

Going Extreme

Biden went nuclear when the ruling was announced, which is what we expected, as Democrats have made it clear that abortion will be on the ballot in this election.

Biden stated, “Millions of Arizonans will soon live under an even more extreme and dangerous abortion ban, which fails to protect women, even when their health is at risk or in tragic cases of rape or incest.

“This cruel ban was first enacted in 1864—more than 150 years ago, before Arizona was even a state and well before women had secured the right to vote. This ruling is a result of the extreme agenda of Republican elected officials who are committed to ripping away women’s freedom.

“Vice President Harris and I stand with the vast majority of Americans who support a woman’s right to choose. We will continue to fight to protect reproductive rights and call on Congress to pass a law restoring the protections of Roe v. Wade for women in every state.”

The law bans all abortions except in cases where the mother’s life is at risk.

Laws such as this were cited as the reason that the GOP performed below expectations in 2020, 2022, and 2023.

That is arguably why Trump is taking a more moderate stance on the issue, blasting the Arizona law himself, believing it to be too extreme.

Trump stated, “Yeah, they did and I think it’ll be straightened out and, as you know, it’s all about state’s rights and it will be straightened out.

“And I’m sure the governor and everybody else have got to bring it back into reason and that it will be taken care of I think.”

Trump recently took the stance that abortion should be left up to the states, which many conservatives believe should be the case. I support the idea as well, but I would like to see it put on the ballot to let voters in each state decide how the law should be constructed.

But, if we go that route, the law would have to be voted on every 10 years or so to ensure the law in place represented the will of the people. I doubt that will happen, though, nor do I believe we will ever see a bipartisan federal law on this because Democrats want no restrictions, including having abortion available right up until birth.

Republicans would back the legislation, but it would have to be limited to somewhere between the first 15-22 weeks as well as include exceptions for the mother’s health, rape, and incest. The fact of the matter is that Democrats don’t want to see that legislation because then they cannot use it during an election cycle to draw in more voters.
