Biden Approves Largest Pay Raise for Federal Employees Since Carter Administration

As you read this, you are probably wondering when the economic pain of the Biden administration will end.

If you are like most of us, your wages are being outpaced by inflation and your bank account has yet to stop moving backward since Biden took office.

Well, get ready for that pain to hurt a little more because Biden has decided to give federal workers a big, fat pay raise, the biggest they have received in decades.

Pay Them

Roughly three-quarters of Americans are behind the eight-ball in terms of wages keeping up with inflation right now.

Half the country cannot survive a $1,000 emergency and overall savings are declining against the average over the last decade.

Biden is now asking us all to dig a little deeper to fund a federal pay raise of 4.7%, plus additional money depending on where those federal workers reside. For instance, those living in San Francisco will get an additional 0.9% to make up for the high cost of living in Gavin Newsom’s California.

Armed forces will receive about a 5.2% pay raise, which I doubt anyone will argue with, but the paper pushers at the Pentagon, the White House, and all the other federal agencies, who already get the best benefits possible and a truckload of paid holidays… well, no, I do not accept that.

The Office of Management and Budget stated, “The Federal government is the nation’s largest employer and must ensure it has the talent to meet the needs of the American people.

“Executing on the President’s 5.2 percent pay increase for both military and civilian workers recognizes the Federal workforce’s dedication and service to the American people and positions the Federal Government to better compete in the labor market to attract and retain a well-qualified workforce.”

Perhaps that is part of the problem. We would prefer a smaller government, not one that is the primary employer in the country.

Just to put this into perspective, the average federal worker has a salary of $98,943, while the average private industry worker has a salary of about $58,000, and our taxes pay their salaries.

If you are mad after reading this, you should be, and there actually is something you can do about it… vote Democrats out of office and let’s put some people who will be fiscally responsible in office.
