Biden Agency Subpoenaed Over Voter Registration Push

Did a Biden policy go too far in trying to enlist voters to back Biden in the upcoming election?

That is what the GOP is accusing the Small Business Administration of doing.

The House Committee on Small Business subpoenaed the SBA regarding its efforts to funnel resources to voter registration for Democrats.

What Is Going on Here?

After several no-shows, the committee subpoenaed SBA Chief of Staff Arthur Plews and his special adviser, Tyler Robinson.

The committee has accused the SBA of "diverting its resources away from assisting Main Street so it can register Democrat voters" in Michigan.

Several months ago, the Biden administration announced a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Michigan Department of State to "promote civic engagement and voter registration in Michigan" that it called the "first-of-its-kind collaboration."

SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman then sent out a press release that stated this new partnership "will help connect Michiganders to vital voter registration information from the State of Michigan so that more small business owners can exercise their right to vote."

This partnership was formed after Joe Biden signed an executive order that would push federal agencies to promote “access to voting.”

Michigan will obviously play a key role in who wins the upcoming election, which has frustrated the GOP in regard to being able to get more details from the SBA.

House Small Business Committee Chair Roger Williams (R-TX) stated, "The committee has given these two individuals the opportunity to speak with us voluntarily without taking these actions, but this appears to be the only way to get them to comply with our oversight responsibilities.

“The American people deserve answers and transparency on the electioneering activities of the SBA and how they plan on inserting themselves in the upcoming federal elections.

"The SBA's sole mission is to help Main Street thrive and grow, and they have repeatedly strayed from that mission to pursue outside political objectives.

“It's unfortunate that we have arrived at this point, but this Committee is determined to get answers on behalf of the American people."

Biden barely beat Trump in Michigan in 2020 on the strength of early and absentee voting, and the state is key in Biden’s best possible path to victory.

However, in all but one recent poll, Joe Biden is trailing Trump, but the margin is very tight.

Point being, even a small push could put Biden over the top, something the GOP wants to avoid allowing to happen if they want to see Trump back in the White House again.
