Alec Baldwin's involuntary manslaughter case dismissed
Actor Alec Baldwin is likely filled with emotion after learning the verdict of his involuntary manslaughter trial.
The case has officially been dismissed.
For those who may not know, Baldwin was holding a gun that fired during a rehearsal for the movie Rust, and his decision ended with the death of cinematographer, Haylna Hutchins.
Baldwin was facing up to a year and a half in prison if convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer determined that not all information surrounding the bullets in evidence was released to Baldwin's lawyers.
"The state’s willful withholding of this information was intentional and deliberate. If this conduct does not rise to the level of bad faith, it certainly comes so near to bad faith as to show signs of scorching prejudice," Sommer said in a recent statement.
She did not stop there.
"The court concludes that this conduct is highly prejudicial to the defendant," Sommer concluded.
Baldwin is now a free man and likely experiencing a wide range of emotions.
He has never faltered from his stance that he is incredibly broken about the incident.
We hope that Alec Baldwin is able to find some peace upon learning he will not be convicted of Hutchins' death and that he can move forward now.
We also hope that Hutchins' family is able to move forward as well from this tragic incident that occurred while filming Rust.
What do you think of the judge's decision in Baldwin's case?
Do you think that this was the appropriate course of justice? Or did Baldwin's celebrity status and deep pockets allow him to receive a different verdict than somebody else would have received?
