USAID workers told to stay out of DC headquarters

One of the agencies being targeted by Donald Trump and Elon Musk is USAID.

Foreign aid has always been ripe with corruption, and according to both Musk and Trump, USAID is broken.

To that point, Secretary of State Marco Rubio took over as head of the agency, then locked the doors and told staffers to stay out of the DC headquarters for the foreseeable future.

Closing the Doors

I have stated before that ending agencies will be a challenge for Trump, as most of them were created through acts of Congress.

That was not the case with USAID, as the agency was originally formed via an executive order by John F. Kennedy.

Programs that operate under USAID have been authorized by Congress via the Foreign Assistance Act, but the agency itself is still not protected.

The agency falls under the purview of the president, secretary of state, and the National Security Council.

Point being, Trump can end this agency via executive order, which has Democrats up in arms right now.

After discovering significant waste and possible fraud in programs that were being funded by USAID, Rubio took over as the acting head of the agency, and the doors were, for the time being, shuttered.

Some of the programs that were highlighted when the agency doors were closed were electric vehicles in Vietnam, a transgender opera in Columbia, condom programs in Palestine, and a transgender comic book in Peru.

That is how this agency was using our tax dollars, which is utterly ridiculous.

Musk, in supporting the move, stated, “It became apparent that it’s not an apple with a worm.

“What we have is just a ball of worms. You’ve got to basically get rid of the whole thing. It’s beyond repair.”

In 2023, the agency had a budget of $43.4 billion, all money that will now, hopefully, be saved.

Dems are going on tilt, with Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) leading the charge, stating, “This is what the beginning of dictatorship looks like.

“What Trump and Elon and all of their cronies are trying to do, is take away the constitutional power of Congress.”

No, this is what responsible spending looks like, as well as an effort for more accountability to the American people for a nation that is about $37 trillion in debt.

If you recall, this was the same agency that Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) claimed was linked to funding gain-of-function research in Wuhan. Something tells me we are only getting to the surface of diabolical schemes where our taxpayer dollars were used.
