Singer Patti Smith collapses on stage

Fans of singer Patti Smith are going to be praying for the quick recovery of the entertainer.

The "Because the Night" singer was recently on stage in Brazil when she collapsed during her presentation. She later returned to the stage and apologized for needing to end her show early.

Video published on social media confirmed that the singer was lying on the stage on the ground at one point. Reports indicate that the singer had been experiencing a severe migraine in recent days and had felt dizzy on stage during her performance.

The AP posted a video of Smith returning to the stage to apologize for having to end her show early.

Even though Smith insists she's fine now, this was undoubtedly a terrifying experience for the singer and her fans.

Cultura Artística Theater, a small concert hall in downtown Sao Paulo, released an update shortly after the incident.

"She’s being attended to by the best doctors and our team," the theater announced on social media.

Smith had been in Sao Paulo for a two-day presentation of the "Correspondences" project with Berlin-based group Soundwalk Collective. Her performance consisted of her reciting some of her writings alongside musicians.

Newspaper Folha de S. Paulo reported that "Smith collapsed about 30 minutes into the event while reading a text about climate change."

"She fell on stage and remained there for a few minutes before receiving assistance."

"She was then placed in a wheelchair and taken backstage," the newspaper added.

"Unfortunately, I got sick, and the doctor said I can’t finish. So we will have to figure something out. And I feel very badly," Smith told the audience.

Her fans shouted back in English, "Don't be sorry! We love you!"
