NH Supreme Court Justice Indicted
The corruption in our judiciary never seems to end, and it stretches across both sides of the aisle.
The most recent was the indictment of New Hampshire Supreme Court Associate Justice Anna Barbara Hantz Marconi, a Republican.
She has been charged with interfering in an investigation of her husband.
You Cannot Do That
Hantz Marconi is now facing five misdemeanor charges and two felony counts.
The felony charges are attempting to commit improper influence and a second count of criminal solicitation of improper influence.
The felony counts could result in as much as seven years and a fine of $4,000, while the misdemeanor charges could result in one year in jail and another fine of $2,000.
New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella stated, “No person is above the law, and the evidence in this case required investigation and presentation to the grand jury.
“The decision to charge a sitting Justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court was not made lightly, and it comes after careful and thoughtful deliberation.
“It is my hope that the public will be reassured that all individuals, including public officials, are treated equally under the law.”
Hantz Marconi’s attorneys, of course, say she is innocent of all charges.
They released a statement on the matter, which read, “Justice Hantz Marconi is innocent. She did not violate any law or rule.
“We will fight the charges to the fullest extent permitted by the law, starting with motions to dismiss the case which we anticipate filing soon.
“We intend to fight these wrongful accusations in court, where the fight should occur, and not in the media.”
The justice was put on leave in July.
As y’all know, I am all for cleaning up corruption, and I see no party lines when it comes to that.
If they are corrupt public servants, they should be made an example of, as that is the only way we are going to fix this broken system of ours.
