CO GOP Chairman Ousted After Controversial Vote

One of the more polarizing leaders within the GOP has just been removed from his post.

Colorado GOP Chairman Dave Williams has a reputation for swimming upstream and clashing with his fellow Republicans, but that will no longer be the case.

Nearly 160 of the 180 people present for a meeting regarding his removal voted in favor of ousting Williams, but it is not quite as simple as that.

Hold On…

According to a release from the Colorado GOP, of the 180 people present, there were only 77 actual members that were in the room.

The rest were proxy votes, and more than half of the membership did not even bother to show up for the meeting.

Now membership is arguing if the vote was even valid, as some believe that at least 60% of the members must be present to hold a vote to remove another member.

The Colorado GOP stated, “They even had to amend their already broken rules while illegally re-interpreting our bylaws to improperly attempt to remove all of your duly elected officers without even a majority of our members present.”

The Republican National Committee parliamentarian, Al Gage, has ruled in favor of Williams, saying that the vote was illegitimate.

Now, a second vote will be held on August 31, hopefully, with enough members attending so this issue can be put to rest.

Williams was taking heat from other members for having endorsed Republican candidates involved in primary battles as well as criticizing Republicans who he did not support, apparently taking a page out of Donald Trump’s book.

Williams had also announced a run for Congress without stepping down from his position as was expected (he lost his primary race).

The last straw for some party members was Williams posting anti-LGBTQ+ messages during Pride Month (keep in mind, Colorado is very much a woke state).

This is very reminiscent of the power struggle taking place in Michigan, another state where Republicans are at each other’s throats.

I know one thing… these people better figure this out before November gets here or we are going to get our hats handed to us in an election where the GOP should run away with everything.

The party as a whole is a hot mess, not giving voters very much reason or confidence to support them in November in what may be the most consequential election conservatives have ever faced.

Get your act together, folks, or we are going to lose this country.
