Cornel West Will Be on Michigan Ballot

The decision has been made, and Kamala Harris is not going to be happy.

A judge in Michigan has ruled that West will be an option on the 2024 presidential election ballot.

This is a key state for Harris if she wants to win, and West impacts her campaign more than Trump’s.

He’s In

In his ruling, Judge James Robert Redford wrote, “The state defendants are ordered to qualify West and Abdullah as independent candidates for the ballot, on the condition that the Board of State Canvassers does not determine they are disqualified after a review of the signatures on the qualifying petitions and West complies with MCL 168.590d(2).”

West also took a victory lap on X, posting, “Victory in Michigan! We brought thousands of voices to the table, and the court listened, rejecting the Democrats’ technical challenges.

“This is a win for democracy and for every person fighting for truth, justice, and love. Onward!”

Harris is ahead of Trump in a head-to-head poll by just 2.9% in the national average right now, with a 2% lead in the most recent polls.

If West is in this race, it will pull from Harris’ support, and I really don’t see a path for her to win unless she sweeps the Blue Wall states.

The good news for Harris is that in Pennsylvania, a judge denied West from being on the ballot, but his campaign will surely appeal that decision and continue to fight to be on the ballot in every state.

West’s campaign was also challenged in Maine, but he was victorious there as well.

The big news for Trump this weekend was the dropping out of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., which is huge for Trump because Kennedy was holding about 5% in most states, including key battleground states.

If Trump is able to absorb Kennedy’s support, it would put him back on top in this election.
