Omar Facing New Challengers with Latest Censure Efforts

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has managed to walk right into it again.

Omar made a comment during the protests at Columbia University that has her in hot water once again.

Now, while backhandedly defending her, another Democrat is taking advantage of her problems in the House to try to unseat Omar in the upcoming election.

Too Much Drama

Omar is facing a censure effort by Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE).

This is all regarding comments that Omar made at Columbia, telling protesters, “I think it is really unfortunate that people don’t care about the fact that all Jewish kids should be kept safe.

“We should not have to tolerate anti-Semitism or bigotry for all Jewish students, whether they’re pro-genocide or anti-genocide.”

The two implications being that Israel was committing genocide, which it is not, and second, that Jewish students were in favor of genocide, which they are not.

There was also the concern that her comments would bring even more hatred toward the Jewish students on campus.

Democrat congressional candidate Don Samuels is now using this to go after Omar’s seat.

Samuels recently stated, “Once again, we’re in an unfortunate and familiar cycle.

“Congresswoman Ilhan Omar says something inflammatory and offensive. Republicans, with repeat offenders in their ranks, weaponize it. Rinse and repeat.”

Omar’s district is one of the more highly populated Muslim districts in the entire country, let alone the state, but there is also a heavy contingent of Jewish voters.

So, while Samuels sounded like he was defending Omar, what he was really telling voters was that if they put him in office, he can concentrate on doing business rather than this endless drama train that follows Omar wherever she goes.

To that point, Samuels later stated, “Our democracy offers the best way to address the harm done by these extremists. It’s not censure; it’s defeat at the ballot box.

“This country needs leaders who can heal our divisions, not pry at them. Let’s elect them to serve.”

I would obviously never vote for a Democrat or back a Democrat in a campaign, but with this seat locked and loaded for Democrats, I think we would be far better having Samuels sitting in that seat than someone who appears to be a blatant traitor to our nation and way of life.
