Biden Ghostwriter Now Facing Contempt of Congress

Republicans are finally using the playbook used by Democrats to take down Trump allies.

It was announced this week that the House will be considering a contempt of Congress vote against Joe Biden’s ghostwriter.

Mark Zwonitzer will soon learn his fate.

We Know You Know

Republicans have pursued Zwonitzer because they want his recordings and transcripts of conversations he had with Biden while ghostwriting Biden’s book.

House Republicans believe that Biden may have shared classified information with Zwonitzer after he left office as Obama’s vice president.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), who, along with Rep. Comer (R-KY), has been at the forefront of the effort to investigate Joe Biden during his vice presidency and the immediate aftermath.

Jordan’s report stated, “In the weeks following the February 5, 2024, release of Special Counsel Robert K. Hur’s report, the Committee on the Judiciary (the ‘Committee’), engaged with Mark Zwonitzer to obtain a limited set of documents and records related to Special Counsel Hur’s report.

“Zwonitzer served as the ghostwriter for President Joe Biden’s memoirs and Special Counsel Hur’s report revealed that Zwonitzer possessed records that would inform potential legislative reforms.

“After Zwonitzer declined to provide the relevant documents and records, the Committee issued a subpoena on March 22, 2024, to Zwonitzer compelling the production of six specific categories of documents and records, including audio recordings and transcripts of his interviews with President Joe Biden relating to his ghostwriting work on the President’s memoirs, ‘Promise Me, Dad and Promises to Keep.’”

To date, Zwonitzer has not produced any materials requested, so the House will now decide if they want to hold a vote to hold him in contempt and make a referral to the DOJ.

Biden has denied ever sharing any classified information with a ghostwriter, so if the vote comes through as expected, this will be a rather interesting showdown between the White House, DOJ, and House.
