Zuckerberg Says He Regrets Censoring Hunter Biden Laptop Story
One of the biggest controversies of the 2020 election was how badly stories that would have hurt Joe Biden were censored.
At the top of that list was the Hunter Biden laptop story, which was literally erased from the internet at the behest of our alphabet agencies.
Now, four years later, when it does no good at all, META CEO Mark Zuckerberg says he regrets taking the story down and demoting it.
Take It Down
When the story was first published in the New York Post, Biden immediately claimed it was probably Russian disinformation.
Suddenly, the FBI warned social media outlets about a “possible” Russian disinformation campaign against Biden.
Then, 51 former intelligence officials signed a letter saying the laptop story had all the earmarks of Russian disinformation.
Now, keep in mind that the FBI had the laptop but never examined it at this point. And not a single one of the officials who signed that letter has ever seen the laptop.
The point is that this was all conjecture, a Democrat talking point, but Facebook and Twitter just erased the story from being promoted, and there are tens of millions of people who have never ever heard of the story.
Zuckerberg now has regrets, stating, “I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it.
“I feel strongly that we should not compromise our content standards due to pressure from any Administration in either direction — and we’re ready to push back if something like this happens again.”
He added, “It’s since been made clear that the reporting was not Russian disinformation, and in retrospect, we shouldn’t have demoted the story.”
Polling after the election showed that roughly half the people surveyed said that story would have impacted their vote, so the lack of reporting on that story cost Donald Trump the election.
This is why I firmly believe Director Wray and every one of those intelligence officials should be charged with election interference for the role they played in burying that story.
I will never be able to be convinced otherwise.
