Christian Writer Dies at 77

A popular writer in Christian circles has passed away.

Sarah Young, who authored the devotional book, “Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence,” died on Friday, reported Christianity Today.

Reports had surfaced days ago that she was in declining health, with her passing away on Friday at the age of 77.

She’s Gone

Her death was announced by Thomas Nelson Publishers on social media.

The group stated, “We received the hard news that Sarah’s health is rapidly failing. We know that Sarah really believes in the power of prayer and prays for her readers every morning. Now, we have the precious privilege to lift up Sarah and her family. Please join us in prayer.”

While the cause of death was not announced, Young’s health struggles were not a secret.

In fact, she did a 2015 interview with Bible Gateway shedding light on these struggles.

At the time, Young stated, “I have struggled with extremely challenging health issues for 12 years. I’ve been diagnosed with two co-infections of Lyme disease, and I’ve had quite a bit of treatment for those.

“In October 2008, the day after I finished writing ‘Jesus Lives: Seeing His Love in Your Life,’ I had a severe attack of vertigo. Since that time, I’ve had a milder, chronic form of dizziness that has never gone away. I continue to be weak and to struggle with various symptoms.

“I hope that my health will continue to improve, but I know there are no guarantees in this life.

“I also know that God has used my hardest times for good.”

In addition to “Jesus Lives,” Young wrote “Jesus Always” and “Jesus Listens,” as well as children’s devotionals and other story books. Her husband, Steven, is also an author.

All told, Young and her husband have sold more than 45 million books in over 30 languages.
