Witness Confirms Trump Statement on ‘Lunge’ Incident
During the January 6 Select Committee hearings, former aide to ex-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, Cassidy Hutchinson, told some pretty crazy stories about Trump.
They were mostly secondhand and never would have been admitted in a court of law, but the truth is not what Democrats were after.
One of the stories involved Trump allegedly lunging at the wheel of a car being driven by the Secret Service the day of the riot for Trump to go to the Capitol… a story which has again been debunked.
The Truth…
A new report from the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General’s office has been released which should have Hutchinson arrested for perjury.
She had testified that she was told by Tony Ornato, a security official on Trump’s detail, that Trump had lunged for the wheel of his SUV.
The witness report from the IG says no such event ever took place.
The report stated, “We also interviewed [redacted] Secret Service agents in the limousine with the President. The limousine driver said that the President was angry when his request to go to the Capitol was denied, whereas the President’s detail lead, who was seated in front of the President, said he did not recall if the President was angry.
“We asked [redacted] agents whether the President reached for the steering wheel or lunged toward the detail lead when his request to go to the Capitol was denied, and [redacted] witnesses said those actions did not occur.”
This just shows the problems with congressional hearings, which are not treated like a court of law.
Hearsay can be used, and the committee members in charge do not have to allow rebuttal witnesses.
They do not even have to disclose exculpatory information, and, as we saw in the videos used, the evidence can be edited to remove key aspects that would provide exculpatory information.
Our government has become a complete and utter joke, and proceedings undertaken by that select committee prove this was nothing but a kangaroo court.
As I have stated before… our system is broken, and there is no hope that it will be fixed anytime soon.
