UAW Withholding Biden Endorsement Over EV Policies

Joe Biden has a problem brewing that few people are talking about.

Joe Biden, who touts himself as the most union-friendly president ever, has a major union holding back its endorsement.

If Biden loses the unions, he loses tens of millions of donor dollars, and that spells doom for Biden.

Concerns

The United Auto Workers (UAW) union is one of the most powerful and influential unions in the country.

It is also very concerned about this major push for Electric Vehicles (EVs).

Before it throws its support behind Biden, it is demanding that Biden offer the union some protection, reports The Detroit News.

UAW President Shawn Fain stated, “The federal government is pouring billions into the electric vehicle transition, with no strings attached and no commitment to workers. The EV transition is at serious risk of becoming a race to the bottom. We want to see national leadership have our back on this before we make any commitments,” reports The Hill.

That statement should not only be concerning for auto workers, but I would also state that is a warning sign for consumers.

If Trump is the nominee, the UAW has already stated that it will not support Trump, stating, “Another Donald Trump presidency would be a disaster. But our members need to see an alternative that delivers real results. We need to get our members organized behind a pro-worker, pro-climate, and pro-democracy political program that can deliver for the working class.”

Unions rarely endorse Republicans, so that does not really upset me. I would be more interested to see how all that money sitting on the sidelines impacts Democrat candidates.

Biden has already made numerous concessions to the Chinese on EVs, so this is really going to back him into a corner.

Between this and the tariffs that Biden lifted for solar panels, he has to make a choice of truly being Made in America or selling out to his buddies in China.
