Elise Stefanik Wins Second Term as GOP Conference Chair

Our hopes of sweeping changes in the GOP have just been dashed.

It now appears that the party's four heads of state will all remain intact.

The latest being Rep. Elise Stefanik as the GOP Conference Chair.

No Changes

Kevin McCarthy won a contested battle to be the nominee for the Speaker of the House.

While there will be some talk prior to the formal election, I have little doubt those fighting his nomination will buckle when it comes time to cast a vote.

With only a slim majority expected, playing games during the vote could be treacherous, so I expect them to fall in line, albeit reluctantly.

By all accounts, Ronna McDaniel will get re-elected as the Chair of the Republican Party unless the whispers of Lee Zeldin challenging her come true.

McConnell is expected to be challenged in the Senate, but he already has enough votes to fend off that challenge.

That leaves us with Rep. Elise Stefanik, who has also already won her second term as the conference chair…

So, we just got our clocks cleaned by Democrats in 2020 and 2022, and every person in charge has been rewarded by being kept in power.

And yet, we, as voters, are supposed to expect a different result in 2024.

Am I nuts or does this seem completely idiotic?
