Willis’ Young Thug Trial Suspended

When Fani Willis became the Fulton County DA, she was hoping to make a name for herself.

She brought two very high-profile cases to indictment, but now both of them have stalled.

The first being the Trump RICO case, and the second being the trial of Young Thug, which has also been put on ice.

Bad Days

The Thug trial is not so much Willis’ doing as the Trump case, but that really will not matter much to people who have seen stacks of cash spent on these trials.

Young Thug’s case was delayed because of alleged inappropriate conduct by the presiding judge, Judge Ural Glanville.

Prosecutors had a witness who was not cooperating, so Glanville took it upon himself to hold meetings in his chambers with prosecutors and the witness to try to convince him to testify.

Defense attorneys objected at the time, and one of them was even hit with contempt charges and spent a few weeks in jail over the objections.

After numerous motions on the subject, Glanville finally decided that ruling on this is out of his purview, and that another judge should look at the case.

However, since that motion is now being decided upon by another judge, the case itself, which took 10 months to pick a jury and has already had about 100 days of trial, is being put on hold.

Don Samuel, a veteran Atlanta criminal defense attorney, stated, “There’s nothing very attractive about the criminal justice system when viewed through the lens of this trial.”

This is a disaster for Willis, who is already under fire for her affair with prosecutor Nathan Wade and alleged misappropriation of grant funds to buy swag for her office.

Willis wanted to see her star rise with these cases, but it turns out it all may have just been a big dud.
