"The View" co-host Whoopi Goldberg blasted Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over his presidential bid, claiming that "gay folks" will rise up and fight.
Goldberg shared the comments during Wednesday's program ahead of the official announcement by DeSantis that evening.

"What's wrong with gay folks? You know, Anita Bryant did this stuff in 1975, and gay folks rose up and fought for what they needed. That's what's coming. It's coming, it's coming. That's not a threat," Goldberg said.
"They pay the same taxes I pay. They want the same things that we're entitled to as taxpayers. You can't pick and choose. You're not asking your constituents. You're telling them what you're doing. That's not the America way. Everybody is supposed to decide what they want, not just you," she added.

Wednesday evening, DeSantis dropped his first presidential campaign video and announced his run for the GOP nomination during a Twitter event with company CEO Elon Musk.
DeSantis promised to lead "Our Great American Comeback" and serve as a vigorous executive who is actively involved in turning the nation around.
The governor's launch follows months of speculation that he would join the 2024 campaign in battle against former President Donald Trump.
So far, DeSantis has been the only Republican to consistently poll in double digits against Trump, a number that is expected to increase following his official announcement.
The push could soon set up a largely two-person GOP battle as voters consider their choices during the 2024 primary season.
Goldberg may express her outcry against DeSantis but many Americans are energized to hear from a candidate with a chance to win who offers a voice of reason in the turbulent election campaign.
