As an American, I cannot tell you how infuriating this report is to read and write.
Multiple outlets are now reporting that the White House asked the media to "ramp up its scrutiny of House Republicans" for their impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden.
As mad as this makes me, it will also prove to be very revealing in terms of the media outlets taking orders from the White House.
Do What We Say
So, we already know many members of the media are terrified to ask Biden tough questions for fear of never being called on or given an interview.
Now, Ian Sams, a key spokesperson for the Biden White House counsel's office, is literally giving directives to the media.
A memo was leaked out that Sams had sent to various media outlets which is both a directive and a plea for help.
CBS News reported the memo stated, "It’s time for the media to ramp up its scrutiny of House Republicans for opening an impeachment inquiry based on lies.
"When even House Republican members are admitting that there is simply no evidence that Joe Biden did anything wrong, much less impeachable, that should set off alarm bells for news organizations."
The memo offered 14 pages of rebuttal from Republicans that had challenged the validity of the impeachment.
Now, the statements that I remember Republicans making were very early on or by Republicans that were more Democrat than Republican.
Sams concluded, "We hope this document helps provide you with factual information useful in your reporting on their unprecedented, unfounded claims underlying an impeachment inquiry without any evidence of wrongdoing."
Hunter Biden's laptop, whistleblower testimony, audio recordings, and a slew of actual documents and bank statements showing that Joe Biden was clearly involved in Hunter Biden's business dealings… that is what they are saying is no evidence.
Trust me, if Democrats had this evidence on a Republican, any Republican, this would be all we were hearing about in the media.
One journalist responded to the memo, stating, “They should be playing hardball and instead what they’re doing is bitching about the media.
“I don’t think the media likes being told what to do. I think it’s going to backfire. It seems to say to me that they believe the media will just do what [the White House] tells them. It’s a terrible look for the administration.”
Now, as I noted above, let's just watch and see what media outlets are bowing to Sams and following his order.
When they do, you know you can no longer trust them as anything but state media, not that we think of them otherwise already.
