White House says Trump funding freeze still in effect

Although America's White House has formally rescinded a controversial memo that had ordered a freeze on federal grants and loans, that doesn't mean that Donald Trump's federal funding freeze is being canceled.

According to CNBC.com, America's White House has clarified that a "federal funding freeze" remains in "full force and effect" to give agencies time to review programs regarding their compliance with President Donald Trump's agenda.

The theme of the early days of Trump's second term has been "America First." This means making sure that our tax dollars are spent responsibly, we're taking care of America's border problems, and we're not giving out dollars to people who don't deserve them.

While White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the controversial memo ordering a freeze on grants and loans had been rescinded, that did NOT represent "a rescission of the federal funding freeze."

Instead, "It is simply a rescission of the [Office of Management and Budget] memo," Leavitt clarified.

She said the memo was rescinded to "end any confusion created by" a federal judge's injunction which blocked the memo from taking effect.

"The President’s [executive orders] on federal funding remain in full force and effect, and will be rigorously implemented," Leavitt added.

Liberals responded to Leavitt by saying that rescinding the memo was only creating more confusion around the issue.

"This is just more confusion and chaos," said New York Attorney General Letitia James. "We will be in court this afternoon."

James' state is one of 22 states suing Donald Trump's administration over the funding freeze.

Maryland Governor Wes More released a statement about the funding freeze:

"We are continuing to watch unrestrained chaos and contradictory guidance from this White House, adding to the confusion and fear that Marylanders are feeling right now," the Democrat said. "A sustained, ideological federal funding freeze would threaten our economy, our jobs, our communities, and our people. The White House needs to clearly articulate their commitment to spending money constitutionally appropriated by Congress."

Do you agree with Donald Trump for ordering the funding freeze? Or are you siding with the Democrats who oppose it?
