White House Issues Response to Hamas Video
Joe Biden and Democrats have been pressuring Israel to call for a cease-fire against Hamas.
A major stipulation for that to happen is for all remaining hostages to be safely returned.
After Hamas released a recent video of a hostage, that may now be in jeopardy.
Disturbing Video
This weekend, Hamas released a video of Edan Alexander, a member of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), who also happens to hold dual citizenship as an American and Israeli citizen.
Alexander was among those captured during the initial attacks on October 7, now having been a prisoner for 420 days.
In the video, he clearly appears to be malnourished and sickly, delivering a direct message to President-elect Trump and PM Netanyahu.
National Security Council (NSC) spokesman Sean Savett responded to the video release, stating, "The hostage video released today of American-Israeli citizen Edan Alexander is a cruel reminder of Hamas’s terror against citizens of multiple countries, including our own.
"The war in Gaza would stop tomorrow and the suffering of Gazans would end immediately — and would have ended months ago — if Hamas agreed to release the hostages.
“It has refused to do so, but as the President said last week, we have a critical opportunity to conclude the deal to release the hostages, stop the war, and surge humanitarian assistance into Gaza."
Joe Biden also personally addressed the video, stating, "Far too many civilians in Gaza have suffered far too much.
"And Hamas has refused, for months and months, to negotiate a good-faith ceasefire and a hostage deal."
I see this as posturing by Hamas knowing that Trump will be in office in less than two months. Once Trump takes over, this situation changes rather dramatically.
I believe Trump will give Netanyahu whatever he wants as long as he promises this war is over within a very short window. But make no mistake about it, Trump will give him the thumbs up to completely eradicate Hamas if that is what it takes.
