Washington Examiner: Fetterman the New Voice of Reason
For several weeks now, I have been saying that much to my surprise, Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) has turned out to be a bit of a reasonable lawmaker.
While he has every reason to fight the GOP every step of the way, he has been one of the calmer voices of the Senate in regard to Donald Trump and working with Republicans.
Washington Examiner Managing Editor Chris Irvine seems to agree.
Believe It or Not…
Irvine was on “Morning in America” this week, where he stated, “I think the Democrats are still a bit listless post-election.
“The refreshing thing about John Fetterman is that he’s really kind of a different voice within that party right now. He’s coming across as the voice of reason.
“And he is saying there’s a messaging problem in the Democratic Party. We’ve heard for years that ‘Trump is Hitler’ and ‘Trump is a fascist.’ All of a sudden, he wins, and then he’s got a fireside chat with Biden in the White House.
“It’s showing that the messaging that they had isn’t landing, and people aren’t listening anymore.
“And I think they need to listen more to people like John Fetterman who have a more all-round world view of how things are right now in this country.”
If I did not know better, I would think that Irvine is reading my reports because I have been saying all this for weeks.
Again, so the hate mail does not start to flow, I would love to see that seat flipped when it comes back up for election, but in the meantime, at least Fetterman appears to be someone that the GOP can work with, which is huge.
Republicans are going to need Democrats to come across the aisle since they only have a 53-seat majority. Knowing they can work with Fetterman is a huge deal moving forward.
The problem for the GOP, however, is going to be in the House, where chaos rules the day because Johnson continues to struggle to get the entire caucus on the same page.
If the next term is a repeat of this one, the GOP will wind up losing the House in 2026, so they better get their act together over the holiday and figure this out.
