Virginia School Board Rejects Biden’s Offer to Mediate

Well, Joe Biden just got told to go pound sand by a local Virginia school board.

The school board is in discussions about implementing new guidelines on transition surgeries that were put in place by Governor Glenn Youngkin.

When the Biden administration offered to step in and help, they were told, in no uncertain terms, that their help was not needed, reported WWBT.

Go Away

Reps. Ben Cline (R-VA) and Morgan Griffith (R-VA) learned of the move by the Biden administration and decided to make a stink over it.

The DOJ offered its help, stating that it was the ideal mediator due to “ongoing community tensions in Roanoke following the release of the new model policies for transgender students,” reported the Daily Wire.

According to Cline and Griffith, that was much better suited to “parents, elected school board members, and Roanoke County taxpayers are much better suited to make important decisions about Roanoke County school matters than unelected bureaucrats from Washington.”

The congressmen were then informed by the school board, “We have rejected the offer from CRS and agree that it would not be in the best interest of our community to allow them here in Roanoke County.”

After the fact, Cline stated, “Whether it’s targeting concerned parents in Loudoun County or seeking to intervene as ‘mediator’ in Roanoke County School Board deliberations, the Biden DOJ has no right to try to insert itself into important issues facing parents and students.

“I applaud the Roanoke County School Board for rejecting the agency’s politicized attempt to overstep its authority and ensuring that the elected board members are the ones making the decisions.”

The DOJ’s Community Relations Service claims to be impartial, but we can all guess where they would have sided in this debate.

Thankfully, the school board made the wise decision and is keeping the federal government out of its business.
