Veterans Outraged After John Kirby Emails Leaked

If you are a regular reader of CJR, you know how I feel about White House national security spokesman John Kirby.

Kirby spent three decades in the Navy, retiring as a Rear Admiral, having been assigned as the Chief of Naval Information.

Yet, he continues to insult our veterans at every opportunity, and he just did it again.

No Respect

I don’t like to belittle anyone’s service to this country, regardless of what role they played.

I obviously give more respect to those who have seen shots fired in anger, but everyone wearing a uniform has their role to play and I thank them for their service.

Having said that, how someone like Kirby can disrespect our service members concerned about the Afghanistan withdrawal just shows the difference between a career paper-pusher and a combat veteran.

To that point, an email was leaked from Kirby’s office where he dismissed the concerns of veterans on this subject, stating, “Obviously no use in responding. A ‘handful’ of vets indeed and all of one stripe.”

Kirby hit “reply all” on that email, not realizing that it was not only going to his staffers, but also to the media, including Fox News Digital.

His comments were directed at members of Congress who had served, all on the Republican side of the aisle.

Kirby responded to Fox News, stating, “Clearly, I didn’t realize you were on the chain.” No apology, nothing else, just an oops for not realizing that Fox News was on the email chain.

Kirby, like everyone else in this administration, has blamed the failed Afghanistan withdrawal on Trump, even though there are mountains of evidence that put this in Biden’s lap.

Yes, Trump made the deal with the Taliban, but they were not adhering to the deal, which meant that Biden did not have to follow the deadlines.

Furthermore, Biden had more than enough time to construct a plan. To use the argument that Trump did not leave a plan behind is ridiculous, to say the least.

There is also the fact that Biden's advisers warned him against the withdrawal, with one adviser saying the Doha agreement had nothing to do with it and Biden was moving forward regardless.

Kirby is a disgrace… and that is me being nice so I don’t get banned by the censors.
