Veteran actor André Braugher Dead at 61
One of my favorite TV show actors has passed away.
André Braugher, most recently one of the co-stars of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” passed away on Monday after a brief illness.
He was only 61 years old.
He’s Really Gone
Braugher’s death has been confirmed by numerous outlets, and I will tell you, the entertainment world is far worse today for it.
The first time I can remember seeing him on the screen was very early in his career, playing Cpl. Thomas Searless in “Glory.”
His next big role was in one of my favorite TV series, “Homicide: Life on the Street,” playing Detective Frank Pembleton.
That role helped land him on the big screen in “The Tuskegee Airmen,” “Primal Fear,” and “City of Angels,” to name just a few of the movies he played during that time.
As the decade ended, his hot streak in movies seemed to dissipate, but he was still in high demand for TV, or perhaps he just preferred TV over movies.
He had another big role in “Hack,” playing Marcellus Washington, but the show only lasted for three seasons.
Then, in 2006, he landed the role of Captain Bradford in “Poseidon,” and he was back, also starring in “The Mist,” “Passengers,” and “Salt.”
After landing a few more single-episode roles as well as recurring roles in “Men of a Certain Age”, ‘House,” “Last Resort,” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” came along, wrapping up in 2021 after nearly a decade run.
His last credited role was Ri’Chard Lane in “The Good Fight.”
Braugher was rewarded for his acting skills with 2 Primetime Emmy, winning 15 awards overall, and being nominated 70 times.
He is survived by his wife and three sons.
Rest in peace sir, and thank you for all those amazing moments on TV and on the big screen.
