Vance Vindicated After NYT Forced to Correct ‘Fact-Check’
During the debate, Senator JD Vance (R-OH) was fact-checked regarding a claim he made about housing costs rising due to the immigration crisis in this country.
He was called out on the debate stage, and New York Times fact-checkers called his claim “false.”
Well, Vance offered up the federal study that backed his claim, and the New York Times ended up with egg on its face.
Proven Right
During the debate, Vance stated, “Look in Springfield, Ohio, and communities all across this country — you’ve got schools that are overwhelmed, you’ve got hospitals that are overwhelmed, you’ve got housing that is totally unaffordable because we brought in millions of illegal immigrants to compete with Americans for scarce homes.”
Vance also rejected the idea of blaming the migrants for the problem and instead placed the blame directly on Kamala Harris.
He added, “We don’t want to blame immigrants for higher housing prices, but we do want to blame Kamala Harris for letting in millions of illegal aliens into this country, which does drive up costs higher.”
Vance’s claim was rated false after the debate, but the fact-checkers did not do their work, so Vance did it for them.
He provided the study, at which point the Times fact-checkers begrudgingly changed the rating from a “false” rating to a “needs context,” which is what they do every time they are caught wrongly accusing a Republican of lying.
The correction stated, “It is not clear what study Mr. Vance is referring to in his remarks. Some Federal Reserve officials and studies have suggested that immigration might push up home prices around the edges.
“A study by the Dallas Fed said that ‘the population influx could put upward pressure on rents and house prices, particularly in the short run before new supply can be built.’
“And the Minneapolis Fed president said that immigrants ‘need a place to live, and their arrival in the U.S. has likely also increased demand for housing.’”
This is why people no longer trust our media.
They are so intent on calling out Republicans for lies they don’t even bother to do their homework.
This is basic economics… supply and demand, and Harris and Biden have created a huge demand with not enough supply, hence why they want to use our money to build three million houses in this country if she is elected president.
I have a better idea… round them up, deport them, ban them from ever coming to this country again, and force people to come legally.
Problem solved.
