A bizarre and horrific story has emerged out of Utah on Wednesday.
Enoch, UT, police were called to a home where they came upon a truly tragic scene.
A total of eight people were dead inside the home, including five minor children.
Police were doing a welfare check on a home on Albert drive.
When they entered the home, everyone inside was dead, all apparent victims of gunshot wounds.
The release from the police stated, "Officers checked the residence and found three adults and five minors deceased inside the home. At this time, we do not believe there is a threat to the public or that there are any suspects at large."
That language tends to lead me to believe this may have been some type of murder-suicide, but that is pure speculation on my part.
Local police have stated that this is still an active investigation and the will release more information as the have it available.
At this time, there is no information regarding the relationships between the adults and children, so we are unsure if this is an entire family or some other bizarre relationship.
Enoch has a population of about 8,000 people, so this will clearly hit the community hard.
The city is just southwest of Utah and it is about 100 miles from the Nevada and Arizona borders.
We will keep our eyes out for more information on the murder and update this report as necessary.
UPDATE: Police have revealed that 42-year-old Michael Haight murdered his seven family members before turning the gun on himself.
Enoch City Manager Rob Dotson added, "This community is feeling remorse, feeling pain. There are friends and neighbors and family members who are hurting because of this incident.
"We don't know why this happened and we're not going to guess. We're going to continue the police investigation."
