US Coast Guard apprehends 21 migrants off the coast of California
The situation at the border is like night and day from when Biden was in office.
Border authorities, including the United States Coast Guard, have gotten back to doing their jobs again.
To that point, the Coast Guard just announced it intercepted a boat with 21 illegals off the coast of California, taking them all into custody.
Gotcha!
According to the USCG, the boat was about 20 miles off the Point Loma coast in San Diego, CA.
The illegals were aboard a 25-foot boat, taken into custody, then transferred to US Customs and Border Protection.
According to the USCG, the USCG Cutter Haddock, USCG Sector San Diego, USCG Cutter Forrest Rednour, and a CBP Air and Marine Operations patrol aircraft were involved in the operation.
The order to expand operations came from the White House after Donald Trump took office.
In addition to its regular duties, the USCG has also been tasked with expanding its operations to include border protection.
Since the order came down, this is, I believe, the third major arrest the USCG has made.
On January 25, a boat carrying nine illegals was intercepted, and on February 2, a boat carrying 16 illegals was intercepted.
Adm. Kevin Lunday, the Coast Guard’s acting commandant, stated, "In accordance with the President’s Executive Orders, the Coast Guard continues to surge assets and leverage its unique capabilities to protect America’s borders, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.”
Trump applauded the efforts of the USCG, posting, "Thanks to the Trump Administration Policies, the Border is CLOSED to all Illegal Immigrants. Anyone who tries to illegally enter the U.S.A. will face significant criminal penalties and immediate deportation."
Since Donald Trump has been in office, border crossings have dropped to all-time lows, having seen only 8,326 apprehensions in the first full month.
It would appear that word has gotten out that you will be arrested and immediately sent back over the border now, something that was not happening when Biden was in office.
There were days that had more illegal crossings than Trump just had in his first full month, and Biden was releasing the majority of those people to the country’s interior.
Now Tom Homan, Trump’s border czar, has been tasked with finding and removing the worst of them before moving forward with the rest of the illegals.
Homan’s priority right now is locating and removing migrants with criminal records over and above the illegal entry into the country.
He has stated that as Congress approves more money, the operation will expand to other categories of illegals.
