In Ohio, JD Vance had held a small lead since the primary races were over.
Just last week, polls emerged putting Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) in the lead.
In PA, John Fetterman has had a sizeable lead over Mehmet Oz throughout.
In the latest polling, both races have had a rather dramatic turn that Democrats will not like.
Big Swing
First, Vance is not only in the lead, but he now has a four-point edge.
The poll is a reliable one, conducted by Emerson College and The Hill.
In August, Ryan held a 45-42 lead, so this is a massive swing for Vance.
The news is just as bad in PA.
In recent CBS News and Monmouth University Polls, Fetterman was leading Oz by five and 10 points respectively.
The latest Trafalgar Group poll still has Fetterman in the lead, but is now only 47.7 to 45.9 percent.
My experience with Trafalgar is that it is generally off a few points, so I would say Fetterman’s lead is probably larger than that, but this race is clearly tightening up.
So much so, Fetterman’s campaign sent out a distress signal.
Fetterman campaign manager Brendan McPhillips sent out a note saying, “I am writing with a wake-up call.
“In the last three weeks alone, Republicans have spent nearly $12 million dollars — significantly outspending us and out-communicating on the airwaves.
“We cannot allow this to continue unabated.”
Fetterman’s internal polling is also concerning, with the note saying that Fetterman is now “neck and neck with Oz.”
Oz has been hammering Fetterman’s record on releasing prisoners, which Fetterman says is a lie, only it’s not.
In fact, another report posted today shows tweets from Fetterman looking to empty the prisons by at least a third.
A local DA also came forward to reveal that Fetterman wanted to release a convicted murderer not because of evidence but because Fetterman did not believe the man could commit murder.
Thankfully, the rest of the board voted against clemency, with the final vote being 4-1 against.
I honestly thought Oz was dead in the water in this race, but I always stated I would love to eat that plate of crow.
I am starting to get the hot sauce ready because this one now looks like it could come down to the wire.
