Fox News' Tucker Carlson can probably kiss goodbye any chances of ever being in a sky box with Trump again.
The Washington Post is reporting that private texts of Tucker Carlson were leaked via the defamation trial that Fox News has found itself in.
Let’s just say the texts are not exactly flattering.
Conflicted Feelings
On his show, Tucker Carlson regularly applauded Donald Trump when he was in office. Carlson also presents himself as a pro-MAGA person.
However, in private, that does not seem to be the case.
The Hill reported that one text stated, “We are very very close to being able to ignore Trump most nights. I truly can’t wait.”
In another text, he declared, “I hate him passionately.”
The texts were cherry-picked from communications by Dominion Voting Systems, which is suing Fox News for $1.6 billion in damages in a defamation case.
Fox News responded, “Thanks to today’s filings, Dominion has been caught red-handed using more distortions and misinformation in their PR campaign to smear Fox News and trample on free speech and freedom of the press.
“We already know they will say and do anything to try to win this case, but to twist and even misattribute quotes to the highest levels of our company is truly beyond the pale.”
The strategy worked because just about every major outlet picked up on the story regarding the tweets.
Carlson also called out some of his fellow hosts for promoting Sidney Powell.
For instance, he told Laura Ingraham, who was pushing the Powell narrative for some time, “Sidney Powell is lying by the way. I caught her. It’s insane.”
He had also sent a message directly to Powell, stating, “You keep telling our viewers that millions of votes were changed by the software. I hope you will prove that very soon. You’ve convinced them that Trump will win. If you don’t have conclusive evidence of fraud at that scale, it’s a cruel and reckless thing to keep saying.”
Tucker Carlson has not yet commented on the leaked texts.
