Tucker Carlson Hammers Christie for Not Facing Off

I may have to eat a big plate of crow on this one because it does not look like Tucker Carlson is going to wait for the Fox News contract situation to play out.

I say that because Carlson fired a shot right across the bow of former New Jersey Governor and current presidential candidate Chris Christie.

Carlson challenged Christie to face off against him, but it would appear that Christie does not want to take a bite of that apple.

No Thanks

Carlson is not even supposed to be dipping his toes into this water due to the Fox News contract issue, but he is not backing off and is clearly not allowing that from getting in the way of establishing himself as an independent journalist.

While on ABC with George Stephanopoulos, Christie said that Carlson is “always wrong” regarding the Ukraine-Russia war.

After the comments aired, Carlson stated that he reached out to Christie to take him on directly on this issue, but Christie refused.

Carlson tweeted, “Sounds like this could be a longer conversation.

“We just asked @GovChristie to sit down and explain his views on Ukraine. He refused. You hate to think that Chris Christie is a blustery coward who plays the tough guy with sycophants at ABC but won’t answer real questions, but who knows? We hope he reconsiders.”

This all got started after Carlson interviewed a bunch of 2024 candidates this weekend for Blaze TV.

Carlson hit Pence pretty good, stating, “I’m sorry, Mr. Vice President. I know you’re running for president. You are distressed that the Ukrainians don’t have enough American tanks. Every city in the United States has become much worse over the past three years. Drive around. There is not one city that has gotten better in the United States, and it’s visible.

“Our economy has degraded, the suicide rate has jumped, public filth and disorder and crime have exponentially increased, and yet your concern is that the Ukrainians, a country most people can’t find on a map, who’ve received tens of billions of U.S. tax dollars, don’t have enough tanks,” reports Breitbart.

Christie chose to respond to those comments on ABC, stating, “I would have said, you’ve always been wrong about this, Tucker, and you’re still wrong. In fact, what’s going on is this is a proxy war with China. The Chinese are funding the Russian war by buying Russian oil. They’re coordinating with the Iranians to provide lethal weapons to the Russian army, and we can decide when to have this conflict.

“Right now, the Ukrainians are willing to fight this fight for themselves if they have our support to be able to win it. If the Chinese watch us back away from Ukraine as Tucker Carlson and others would advocate — believe me — the next move will be Taiwan.”

I am not saying Christie or Carlson are wrong here, but I am saying if Christie is going to call out Carlson, why not face him and debate him on the issue?

Christie always touts himself as fearless and as a bit of a bulldog when it comes to debates, so why not take on Tucker?
