Trump Will Attend Reopening of Notre Dame

Donald Trump made an announcement this week that will surely have some people upset.

Trump announced that he will be attending the reopening of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris this coming weekend.

Trump even extended an olive branch to French President Macron, who has not exactly been complimentary to Trump over the years.

He Will Be There

When Trump was in office, Notre Dame had suffered significant damage when a fire swept through the cathedral.

At the time, there were questions if they would even be able to restore the centuries-old structure.

It has taken five years, but the historic cathedral is finally ready for public viewing again.

Trump posted, "It is an honor to announce that I will be traveling to Paris, France, on Saturday to attend the re-opening of the Magnificent and Historic Notre Dame Cathedral, which has been fully restored after a devastating fire five years ago.

"President Emmanuel Macron has done a wonderful job ensuring that Notre Dame has been restored to its full level of glory, and even more so. It will be a very special day for all!"

The fire, if you recall, was reported in April 2019.

According to reports at the time, the fire started on the roof of the cathedral.

It spread quickly, causing the roof to collapse, and destroying much of the wooden roof structure.

In addition to the damage to the roof, the upper walls of the cathedral were also damaged.

The solace of the incident was that the vaulted stone ceiling had prevented further damage to the interior of the historic building.

Even so, some of the priceless art and relics were damaged by smoke, with some of the exterior art completely lost.

Thankfully, the altar, the pipe organs, and the rose windows suffered very little or no damage.

Investigators believe the fire was caused by either a short circuit in the electrical system or possibly a cigarette.
