Trump Voters Not Buying into Indictment Issues

I should call this article, “Jerry eats a big plate of crow,” because that is what I am about to do.

I do my best to offer honest analysis, insight, and a bit of humor and sarcasm to our political world.

One thing I always am is honest in what I believe.

I do that regardless of who I support or what I personally want to see happen.

In the case of Trump, I thought for sure that once indictments came down, supporters would bolt, but I was dead wrong, and I will take a little Tabanero hot sauce for my crow, please.

They Just Don’t Care

This is a phenomenon that I surely did not expect to see.

Indictment after indictment, negative poll against Biden after negative poll, and Trump supporters do not waiver, quite the opposite.

The more trouble that Trump has, the more his supporters open their checkbooks, and, shockingly, the more people in the GOP base support him.

When this election season started, Trump and DeSantis were in a virtual tie even though DeSantis had yet to announce.

In the 10 months since the 2022 election, Trump has more than doubled his support, all but eliminating DeSantis from contention.

Not only that, but Trump is now outraising DeSantis, and the money keeps flowing even though the majority of the funds have gone to Trump’s legal defense.

His base is unshakable, but that base is now growing to the tune of more than 60%, if we are to believe a recent CBS News poll.

According to a recent Daily Beast report, 53 percent of Americans say they will NEVER vote for Trump, but that means that 47 will consider voting for him.

You need about 46 percent of the vote to win a general election, so Trump now needs to find a way to lock in that 11 percent of the vote that is leaning toward “probably not” supporting Trump in the election.

I have always stated that I believe that Trump’s base is about 35 percent, so that number falls right in line with my analysis.

So, the question is, how does Trump lure in that 11 percent to win an election against Joe Biden? He has his base, but he needs to start playing to that magical 11 percent.

If he does that, this race is winnable regardless of all his legal problems.
