Trump urges Supreme Court to delay potential implementation ofTikTok ban

President-elect Donald Trump is making a big ask of the U.S. Supreme Court:

He wants the justices to delay any potential implementation of the TikTok ban that is currently scheduled to take place on Jan. 19, 2025.

Trump's relationship with TikTok has been a complicated one.

During his first presidency, Trump signed an executive order that npr.org said would "effectively ban use of TikTok in the U.S."

Fast-forward to 2024, and Trump doesn't seem quite so keen on banning the app.

You see, Trump absolutely crushed Republican candidates of years past in the young voter demographic this time around, and much of that success is being attributed to platforms like podcasts and TikTok, which are very popular ways for the age group to consume information.

Trump knows that TikTok really helped him close the gap on Kamala Harris when it came to young voters. As a result, it's speculated that Donald Trump might be trying to save TikTok because he feels as though platforms like it saved him.

If Trump hadn't won the presidency, not only would America be in a much worse spot, but Trump the president wouldn't exist to help make Trump the convicted felon's problems go away.

"I have a warm spot in my heart for TikTok, because I won youth by 34 points, there are those that say that TikTok has something to do with that," Trump said after winning the election.

While Trump's claim that he won young people by 34 points wasn't exactly true, the sentiment behind the statement sure was.

If Trump hadn't been able to utilize TikTok and podcasts to narrow the gap with young voters between him and Kamala Harris, he might not have had enough support overall to win the election.

Do you think the Supreme Court is going to enforce the TikTok ban that's scheduled to go into place on Jan. 19, or will the justices spare the app at least until after Trump takes office?
