Trump Unable Attend Funeral of Hero Who Died at Rally
With all the attention on Donald Trump surviving the assassination attempt against him, the loss of Corey Comperatore has slid to the back pages.
Comperatore was a local hero, a former fire chief and loving father, who lost his life from one of the bullets meant for Donald Trump.
Sadly, after initially reporting that Trump would be in attendance, Trump has had to bow out and will not be there on Thursday.
Could Have Been Me
Comperatore is one of three people who were shot in addition to Trump.
The man was a true hero his entire life, a former fire chief, who told his wife and child to get down when shots rang out, then covered their bodies to protect him.
That brave act cost him his life, and I am sure he would not trade it for a second due to the fact it likely saved his loved ones from losing their lives.
Comperatore’s viewing and funeral were scheduled for Thursday, the final day of the RNC where Trump will give his speech, so he will be unable to make the services.
To his credit, Trump has never shied away from these types of events, for better or worse.
Trump has regularly greeted our fallen when he was president and has met with the families on numerous occasions, a task that can truly take a toll on a president.
Initially, Trump had planned on attending the funeral, but the scheduling created conflicts and it was announced that he would not be able to attend.
Trump, however, did call Comperatore’s widow, and his campaign authorized a GoFundMe to help all the families who suffered at the hands of that maniac.
