Trump to Sue DOJ Over Mar-a-Lago Raid

Donald Trump had to do something to try to flip the news cycle against Kamala Harris, and he just did it.

It is being reported that Trump is suing the FBI and DOJ over the raid that took place at his Mar-a-Lago residence to retrieve the classified documents.

I doubt he will be successful, but at least it took the spotlight away from Kamala Harris for a hot minute.

Look at Me

This really is all about Trump getting some media attention because he has very little chance of this case even being entertained by the court.

His legal team is arguing, “Garland and Wray should have never approved a raid and subsequent indictment of President Trump because the well-established protocol with former U.S. presidents is to use non-enforcement means to obtain records of the United States.

“But notwithstanding the fact that the raid should have never occurred, Garland and Wray should have ensured their agents sought consent from President Trump, notified his lawyers, and sought cooperation.”

The suit claims that the government should have negotiated with Trump rather than just raided his compound, but I don’t think the court is going to buy that.

The FBI does not have to negotiate anything, so I don’t even see how that is a point of contention.

The DOJ will push back, saying that if this precedent is set, it would then require the DOJ to negotiate with every suspect when a raid is planned, regardless of the type of crime.

I know Trump supporters want to hear something different, but take Trump out of the picture and tell me if you would seriously consider negotiating on raids if it were not Trump.

Special Counsel Jack Smith more or less made that point when asked about the suit, stating, “We have one set of laws in this country and they apply to everyone.

“Adhering to and applying the laws is what determines the outcome of an investigation. Nothing more, nothing less.”

I agree with him completely, so I would only ask why the same rules were not applied to Joe Biden.

I know you guys want to hear differently, but my job is to be honest, regardless of what we would prefer to hear, and I honestly believe the judge will dismiss this case before it ever sees the inside of a courtroom.
