Trump Sues Harris Campaign Over Possible FEC Violation
With Joe Biden out of the election, the big question is what will happen to the $91 million he had remaining in his war chest.
Well, the answer to that was that Kamala Harris’ campaign already tried to access the money.
Some shady activity was going on behind the scenes, and the Donald Trump campaign believes it could be a violation of the Federal Elections Commission.
Just Take It
After Biden withdrew, Biden’s campaign funds were switched to Harris’ name, using the same FEC ID that the Biden campaign had used.
Now, I am not sure how legal this was, and neither is the Trump campaign.
So, a complaint was filed asking the FEC to investigate this as possible election fraud.
The complaint stated, “Kamala Harris is seeking to perpetrate a $91.5 million dollar [sic] heist of Joe Biden’s leftover campaign cash — a brazen money grab that would constitute the single largest excessive contribution and biggest violation in the history of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971.”
As far as we know, the legislation does not provide for one candidate to simply take over another candidate’s funds when they drop out.
There is also the fact that Harris never filed any paperwork designating the Biden campaign as an authorized committee for Harris.
Harris campaign spokesperson Charles Lutvak responded, “Team Harris will continue to build on our more than 250 coordinated offices and more than 1,300 coordinated staffers across the battleground states – just like we built on the $240 million cash on hand that we had at launch this week, raising $100 million in our first 36 hours and signing up 58,000 volunteers.
“Republicans may be jealous that Democrats are energized to defeat Donald Trump and his MAGA allies, but baseless legal claims – like the ones they’ve made for years to try to suppress votes and steal elections – will only distract them while we sign up volunteers, talk to voters, and win this election."
Notice how he did not actually address the legality of this move by Harris.
Prior to Biden leaving the race, FEC officials had stated this was a complex issue, and Harris appears to have taken the path of least resistance, but that does not mean it is legal.
From my perspective, this has been a long con on Democrat voters from the outset, so I am hoping beyond hope that Harris loses this case.
Personally, I believe that Biden should have to refund every penny donated and pay out of pocket to reimburse any campaign funds that were already spent on his fraudulent candidacy.
