Trump Says Travel Ban Will Be Back in Place on Day One

Trump is working today’s headlines to try to generate more support for his campaign after a massive stumble regarding Israel.

Trump hit Prime Minister Netanyahu at a rally after the Hamas attack against Israel, and he has been in recovery mode ever since.

Now Trump is concentrating on getting the message out of how he will protect Israel and our country against potential terror threats.

Travel Ban in Play

With less than 100 days to go before the Iowa caucus, Trump still has a massive cushion in polling, but his recent comments could make him absorb a hit.

So, Trump is doing what Trump does, and he is going big.

Trump stated, “Today I am announcing vital steps I will take to protect our people in my next term. First, upon my inauguration, as I have already said many times before, I will immediately reinstate and expand the wildly successful Trump Travel Ban on entry from terror-plagued countries, territories, and places.

“If you’re coming from somewhere full of people who want to kill Americans, we will not let you in,” he said in an advance copy of his remarks.

“No longer will we allow dangerous lunatics, haters, bigots, and maniacs to get residency in our country. If you empathize with Radical Islamic terrorists and extremists, you’re disqualified — if you want to abolish the state of Israel, you’re disqualified —if you support Hamas or the ideology behind Hamas, you’re disqualified —and if you’re a Communist, Marxist, or Fascist, you are disqualified.”

Trump also stated that he would start to send ICE to “pro-jihadist demonstrations” to apprehend and deport any potential immigrant law violators.

Rest assured, this would be challenged in court by liberal groups, and Trump knows this, but this is about flipping a very negative narrative that he created by his comments about Netanyahu after the Hamas attack.

I will keep an eye on polling to see if anything Trump said impacted his lead, but right now, his average is 57% to DeSantis’ 13.9%, so he can easily take a hit and recover without worrying about blowing the primary race.
