Trump says he cut aid to South Africa over racial discrimination

Donald Trump just about broke the internet on February 2, 2025, claiming that he was cutting all aide to South Africa.

According to Trump’s post on Truth Social, he was holding the aid back over the alleged confiscation of the property of white citizens.

Get ready for the outrage on the left, as I can already hear Dems accusing Trump of being racist for doing this.

Racism?

On Sunday evening, Trump posted, “South Africa is confiscating land, and treating certain classes of people VERY BADLY. It is a bad situation that the Radical Left Media doesn’t want to so much as mention.

“A massive Human Rights VIOLATION, at a minimum, is happening for all to see. The United States won’t stand for it, we will act. Also, I will be cutting off all future funding to South Africa until a full investigation of this situation has been completed!”

In 2023, South Africa received at least $273 million in aid from the United States, with some estimates at more than $400 million.

Reports have surfaced that South Africa is considering doing the same thing that Zimbabwe did to white farmers when the government confiscated their land for redistribution.

When this was done in 2000, the country almost immediately had a food crisis, as the black farmers who were given the properties were unable to duplicate the success of the previous farmers.

Radical government officials and activists in South Africa are now demanding the government do the same thing that Zimbabwe did to take farmland owned by white farmers and give it to black South Africans.

There are two problems here. The first being the obvious of confiscating land. The second being that according to reports, very few black South Africans want to own these farms.

South Africa recently passed the Expropriation Act, which enables the government to take land without compensation, which is why Trump is objecting.

Trump is trying to squash this movement before it gets rolling, but it will be very interesting to see how Democrats and the media portray him stepping in like this.

Additionally, it will be interesting to see if this ban on funding holds up, as precedent has been very clear that with few exceptions, the president cannot halt funding that has been congressionally approved.

We should also note that new leadership in South Africa has flipped alliances, with the country on longer representing the United States interests, but instead coddling up to China and Russia, as well as some terrorist organizations.

It will be very interesting to see who is willing to go on the record to fight this move by Trump.
