Former President Donald Trump defended his recent town hall appearance on CNN, arguing that the network did the right thing in hosting him for the event.
Trump shared the response in comments to Fox News on Thursday following the Wednesday event.

"I was happy to do it," Trump told Fox News Digital. "I got the word out to millions of people that would generally not hear this point of view concerning things such as the border, inflation, the economy, energy independence, the Afghanistan catastrophe and more."
"I think CNN did the right thing by putting me on—all you have to do is look at their fantastic ratings," Trump said. "It was an honor to do it."

Trump also took to Social Truth to share his thoughts on criticisms about the town hall.
"People are criticizing CNN for giving me a Forum to tell the TRUTH. I believe it was a very smart thing that they did," Trump wrote.
"It was by far the biggest Show of the night, the week, and the month!" he added.
Trump continues to dominate early GOP polls over other candidates. So far, the only other person to poll in double digits has been Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis who has yet to announce a run for president.
President Joe Biden and Democrats seem content to face Trump in a rematch of the 2020 election, hoping for similar results.
Trump's appearance on CNN marks a different approach at least for the network as it seeks to improve its ratings under new ownership during the 2024 election cycle.
